LUBBOCK, Texas - For the third time this year, Texas Tech senior volleyball player Alicia Ostmeyer was recognized for her efforts in the classroom as she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team in an announcement late Thursday afternoon.

Ostmeyer is one of just 18 volleyball players from universities across the country to be recognized as Academic All-Americans. To receive the honor, players must carry at least a 3.2 grade point average, be at least a sophomore in standing both athletically and academically, and have completed at least one full year at their member institution. After they are named Academic All-District, they become eligible for Academic All-America Honors and are voted on by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

A native of Grinnell, Kan., Ostmeyer recently completed her senior campaign for the Red Raiders, in which she hit .285 and was third on the squad with a career-best 247 kills (2.40 kpg) from her middle blocker position. She also averaged .84 blocks per game while appearing in all but one game for Tech on the season. Ostmeyer carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and is majoring in speech language hearing.

Other academic honors for Ostmeyer this season include CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team and First Team Academic All-Big 12.
